California has long been a forerunner in environmental concerns. Recently, California bucked the resistance of the Federal Government to sign the Kyoto Protocol Agreement and did it themselves. Now, they've taken another dramatic step in holding automakers accountable for their products. I doubt they will win this lawsuit, but it will draw attention to the problem, and hopefully put the automakers on alert that they need to be taking the impact of their products on the environment more seriously.
